Pre-Tournament

Before the tournament started, Planos, Weatherman, Frogtective, and Catbird had a meeting to discuss who could have been responsible for Catmint◻'s recent boxing. It was a very Noir Detective meeting, with jazz music playing and a perpetual thematically appropriate rainstorm (the rainy weather continued throughout the tournament). They discussed several suspects, most of whom were contenders in the upcoming tournament, determining that the culprit had to be someone with access to FP technology similar to Planos's own. Wyatt arrived to tell them that they were already an hour and 40 minutes behind schedule, and Planos put Frogtective in charge of fighter interviews.

During interviews, it was discovered that Static Mik◻ had been boxed-- uh, that boxed letter is supposed to be an E-- and seemed to be doing poorly, seeming fairly out of it.

Additionally, Spark arrived late, having been swept out to sea. The Gornk was there. The Gornk is also here, and had finally stopped ignoring his tournament invitations.

Catmint◻ and Ark were the exhibition match fighters; Catmint◻, after a fight with Catbird between tournaments, was still unsure what everyone was so worried about. Ark won the exhibition match.

During the Tournament

One of the gifs, by Wybie.

After the first match of Ben vs Viking in losers round 1, the commentators all got distracted by some baffling Ben-related gifs that Felin made. During this time, Ben also got boxed. This put some degree of suspicion on Viking, since one of his moves is the ability to hide in a cardboard box. Ben◻, initially a heavy underdog and knocked down to loser's bracket quite easily in round 1 by Catbird, would go on to upset everyone's bracket predictions by doing much better than expected, making it through round after round of the loser's bracket. It remains unclear whether the box had any effect on his performance or not.

In losers round 2, the first match between Brooke and The Gornk was on a stage with some extremely janky clouds that were far enough out that all three of Brooke's stocks were lost to failing to make it back from the cloud to the main platform. As a result, the first match was disregarded and they had another match on the Rain Weather stage. Huh, it sure is raining a lot this tournament, even more than usual. This probably indicates something about Weatherman's emotional state.

During a brief intermission for fanart and device charging, Helia talked about her experience with Ark: they had fizzy drinks at Starbucks together once. Ark had "various" opinions on the different drinks, and Helia felt mostly positively about her. Spark seemed to feel less positively about Ark, but dodged questions about this.

When Static Mik◻ was eliminated from the tournament, Static Miku arrived to congratulate him on how well he'd done. Mik◻ almost entirely ignored her, completely zoned out and evidently doing very badly, only commenting that he felt like he was being watched.

During semifinals, Planos received a call and discovered that Viking had been boxed offscreen. Catbird also took the reveal of just how much the boxes had spread poorly.

Catbird was ultimately eliminated in losers finals, by Ben◻. The parallel between this and their fight against Catmint◻ between tournaments (where Catmint◻ actually defeated him for the first time) was not lost on him, and they felt very distressed.

Post-Tournament

Brooke tried to talk with Catbird at the Amiibakery, but with Catbird feeling very upset, this conversation went poorly. Brooke remained uninformed of exactly what was up with Catmint◻.

Catbird reported back to Frogtective about who he did and did not suspect; with his previous prime suspect, Viking◻, now boxed, and most other contenders seeming cleared one way or another, the most suspicious individual was Brooke. Planos agreed with this assessment and, perhaps somewhat impulsively, decided to arrest Brooke, at least to make sure she wasn't able to access the FP technology.

After this, unseen by anyone not present in the conversation, there was a conversation between an unknown individual and Static ◻◻◻◻-- uh, that's not good. Formerly-Mike was communicating exclusively in the NATO Phonetic Alphabet and very clearly even more out of it than before, while the unknown mastermind talking to him claimed to want to fix this and seemed upset about having made things worse; they expressed wanting to ensure that no one ever lost someone to bin editing again.
